Heart singer Ann Wilson has completed chemotherapy and is ready to return to the road in 2025, she announced Tuesday, marking the end of her treatment for an unspecified cancer.
She kicked off her Instagram video with a cheerful “Hello everyone!” and said she knew people were worried after the band cancelled the UK leg of their Royal Flush tour in May.
The band, known for its hits “Barracuda” and “Magic Man,” revealed Wilson’s cancer diagnosis and surgery last July. Wilson said at the time that her doctors had ordered her to stay off tour until the end of the year, but she had promised to return. On Wednesday, she began to make good on that promise.
“I know a lot of you are wondering how I’m doing, so I thought it would be best for you to hear it directly from me,” said Wilson, 74. “I’m doing perfectly fine now, but it’s been very tough to say the least. Chemotherapy is no joke. It takes a lot of energy. And then those two weeks of waiting for test results, it’s mental torture.”
She said she feels “a lot of empathy” for others who have followed that path.
“Luckily for me, when the results finally came back, they were good!” she said of the follow-up tests. “So I’m thrilled to announce that I’m now done with chemotherapy and I’m officially ready to get ready for the 2025 tour!”
Just two days earlier, the band had quietly added more shows to its 2025 schedule, including a second night in Las Vegas and new shows in Toronto, Mashantucket, Conn., and Boston.
“We are so excited to be back on tour,” Nancy Wilson, Wilson’s sister and bandmate, said in a separate statement obtained by People. “We were just starting to tour full steam ahead, and the vibe was just MAJOR. Stay tuned…”
