Heartbroken parents pay tribute to three children killed in east London house fire | UK News

An 11-year-old girl and two boys aged seven and 11 have died after a fire broke out at a terraced house in East Ham. Their parents paid tribute to them, saying: “You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”

The parents of three children who died in an east London house fire have paid tribute to them, saying: “Your lives have been a blessing.”

The children died after the a fire broke out in a neighbouring property at Napier Road, East Ham, just after 8.30am on Saturday 13th July.

They have now been named: Muhammad Hanan Malik, a seven-year-old boy, Aayat Malik, an 11-year-old girl, and Nakash Malik, a 13-year-old boy..

In a statement paying tribute to the children, their parents Khurram Malik and Naumana Gul Khan said: “Your lives have been a blessing, your memory a treasure.

“You are loved beyond words and missed dearly. May you rest in peace in God’s heaven.”

The Metropolitan Police said it was investigating the cause of the fire in conjunction with the London Fire Brigade.

“At this stage there is no indication of suspicious circumstances,” a force spokesman said.

Police had previously said one of the children died at the scene, while the other two died in hospital.

As the third child’s death was announced, Newham Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz said the news added to the “deep grief and sadness felt by our community here”.

“There are really no words to express how shocked and horrified we are as a community at what a house fire can do,” Fiaz said.

Half of the first floor and the ground floor of the house were damaged in the fire.

Six fire trucks and around forty firefighters responded to the scene.

Rida Nawaz, a neighbour and family friend, said at the time: “My husband broke the upstairs window, I broke the front window. We just wanted to save them.”
