Holy Cross College announced Wednesday that it will cover the full cost of tuition for students whose families earn $100,000 or less per year.
The change is a significant expansion of the school’s current financial aid program, which has covered tuition for families earning $75,000 or less annually since the start of the 2022-23 school year. The college said its latest decision reinforces the school’s commitment to providing opportunities to all “talented students, regardless of economic resources.”

According to the college, it awarded $76.5 million in financial aid for the 2023-2024 school year, with 65% of its students receiving need-based grants.
“This expansion of financial aid will result in more need-based financial aid, particularly for students whose families are increasingly struggling to afford the rising costs of college,” the school said .
According to Holy Cross, tuition to attend the Worcester facility for the 2024-2025 school year is $63,350. The total cost is $83,320 with the inclusion of housing, other fees and a meal plan.
The cost of attending college has skyrocketed, with several New England schools announcing this year that tuition would rise to more than $90,000 a year for their institutions. According to U.S. News and World Report, the average cost of private college tuition for the 2024-2025 school year is $43,505, up 2.5% from the previous school year.
