A homeless man has died after a horrific assault in a Brooklyn grocery store parking lot — and cops said Wednesday they were searching for two attackers.
Police say two men holding metal pipes and a baseball bat approached Cos Jervis Jonas Ajpuac, 38, and a 42-year-old man who were sleeping in the parking lot of a ShopRite between McDonald Avenue and Avenue I in Borough Park. 7 p.m. September 18.
The two attackers attacked the sleeping men, hitting them repeatedly in the head and body, police said. The injured men were transported to Maimonides Medical Center.
Ajpuac, who suffered from internal bleeding, died on October 2. The 42-year-old man beaten in the attack was in stable condition with swelling to his legs and stomach, police said.
The attackers were known to frequent the area of the incident, police said.
Police released surveillance video of the suspects entering the grocery store. The attacker, aged 25, wore a bandage on his nose and a black sweatshirt with “Vocal” written on it; the attacker, aged 49, wore a yellow shirt and an orange vest, as well as a cane.
