An Illinois Powerball player feels a lot richer after winning a $2 million prize in Monday’s drawing.
According to the Illinois Lottery, the winner played Powerball via an online ticket and matched all five numbers in the game, narrowly missing winning the jackpot.
The player also added the “Power Play” feature to the jackpot, which doubled its prize to $2 million.
According to the Lottery, winners have one year to claim their prize after the draw date.
The Powerball draw takes place every week on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, with players aiming to match all five numbers and one Powerball number to win the jackpot. The next jackpot, available Wednesday evening, will amount to $336 million.
Powerball tickets can be purchased either at participating retailers, through the Illinois Lottery app or on the Lottery website. Tickets cost $2 each, with a $1 “Power Play” add-on that can multiply all non-jackpot prizes.
