A shooting at a high school party in Fort Wayne, Indiana, left one person dead and ten others injured Saturday night, authorities said, leaving the community shaken and police searching for answers.
The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) reported that the incident occurred shortly before 10:30 p.m. in the 4900 block of Manistee Drive, off Stellhorn Road, a suburban area in northeastern Texas. city.
According to local station WISH-TV, several 911 calls alerted police to gunshots, and people fled in all directions. Police officers who arrived at the scene described it as “chaotic,” the outlet reported.
Investigators learned from witnesses that the shooting took place during what was described as a “high school party,” according to police statements.
Early Sunday morning, authorities confirmed that 11 people had been shot, including the deceased victim.
The other ten victims suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said. The exact nature and extent of these injuries have not been disclosed.
