The internet is backing a woman who told her brother-in-law that she would not sleep with him “even if her life depended on it.”
In a viral post published to Reddit’s popular “AmITheA ** hole” forum, a woman using the username u / alyssajordan__ explained her story to the followers of the page, receiving over 9,000 upvotes and 800 comments.
The 24-year-old Reddit user is engaged to be married to her fiancé, Jax, but has a younger brother, Jacob, who she went to college with. She explained how she used to “sleep around” throughout her college experience. Both Jax and Jacob know her history, and Jacob tends to bring it up when they’re at family event. Typically when this happens, Jax and the rest of his family urge him to stop since the Redditor is uncomfortable with the unwanted jokes.
In research done by Harris Poll, 31 percent of adults experience bullying. The effects bullying has on someone can cause them anxiety, stress, depression, loss of sleep and confidence among others found in the survey.
At Jacob’s birthday dinner, many of his family and friends were there. She wrote how drunk Jacob was and how he was telling jokes that were not funny, including how shocked he was when the original poster (OP) did not try to sleep with him in college.
“Being fed up and a little bit drunk I told him I would not sleep with him if my life depended on it. He got pissed and kept silent. The dinner was awkward for the rest of the time,” she said.
Her fiancé and most of the family defended her actions while Jacob’s friends were sending her rude messages, calling her a “b *** h” and a “w *** e.”
Commenters were quick to defend the Reddit user.
“[Not the A**hole]. He’s mad because you DIDN’T sleep with him, “u / nixiedust85 wrote, receiving the top comment with 19,000 upvotes.
U / PomeloPepper questioned, “[Not the A**hole] Are you aw *** e for NOT wanting to sleep with your fiancé’s brother? “
“[Not the A**hole]. He clearly wanted to sleep with you back then and is p *** ed off that he missed the chance to even try. He just wants to, I do not know, roll the blame over to you? Like ‘if OP just had realized I’m the perfect guy, we would be together’ or something like that. But that is not your problem, it’s his. And he has to deal with it, “u / LordDesanto said.
“[Not the A**hole]. It’s creepy that the brother always brought it up in front of family – or at all, “exclaimed u / jabmwr,” F ** k Jacob’s friends; lashing out at you bc you hurt their friend’s ego is pathetic. “
