Jay Slater trolls have boasted they are ‘on top’ after the missing 19-year-old’s Instagram account was cruelly hacked by vile internet users. Jay’s Instagram account has been taken over by trolls who have cruelly turned it into a ‘memorial’ page – despite police saying he is not yet ‘missing and feared dead’.
The page read: “In memory of Jay Slater. This account has been memorialized. Memorial accounts are places where someone’s life is remembered and celebrated after they have passed away.” The troll later confessed to the act on his own account – 055z.
They joked that they and another account were “on top” and “making headlines”. A spokesperson for Meta – which owns Instagqram – told The Sun: “We confirm that we have cancelled this memorial. We have also removed @055z for violating our community standards.”

Speaking to an official Jay Slater Facebook group aimed at helping find the teenager, his friend Rachel said: “We are aware that Jay’s Instagram has been hacked, unfortunately as people may know we live in a world with a large population of rotten and heartless individuals. My faith in humanity is much diminished.
“You know, some of these comments that some people are trying to make IN THIS GROUP alone are absolutely disgusting. I’m at a loss for words at this point.
“I don’t understand how some of these people are actual parents themselves and the fact that they would post such vile things about a young boy speaks volumes about the person you truly are. People are DISGRACEFUL, they really have nothing better to do than disrespect a family whose sons are missing and you take pleasure in hurting and making fun of such a devastating time.
“I really hope that people who do this never find themselves in this terribly painful time, because I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”
