Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck won’t have any awkward encounters at the premiere of their movie “Unstoppable” because the “The Accountant” actor won’t be in attendance.
According to People, Jenny from the Block will promote the sports film at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival, as will co-producer Matt Damon.
Despite being one of the producers of the film along with Damon, who is also his best friend, Affleck chose not to attend the September event for reasons that have not been disclosed.
Lopez’s red carpet appearance will likely be her first since filing for divorce after nearly two years of marriage to Affleck. In court documents, she cited April 26 as the date of separation and irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split.
The last time the couple appeared together at a premiere was for JLo’s “This Is Me…Now: A Love Story.” The 55-year-old singer showed up alone at the Met Gala, though Affleck’s rep cited a scheduling conflict as the reason for her absence.
The estranged couple worked together on the project with Lopez playing the mother of Anthony Robles, a wrestler who won an NCAA national championship in 2011 despite being born with only one leg.
An official plot synopsis reads: “At home, he must deal with a mother who is also growing up,” reads the official TIFF website. “Jennifer Lopez, too often underrated, is terrific here.”
Affleck and Damon’s production company, Artist Equity, also produced Lopez’s upcoming film, “Kiss Of The Spider Woman.”
“Unstoppable” will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6.
