There is just over a month left before the full Bruins return to Warrior Ice Arena for training camp.

But even with a new season on the horizon, it doesn’t appear Jeremy Swayman is concerned about the status of his contract negotiations with the Bruins.

Swayman, a restricted free agent, has yet to sign what will likely be a long-term contract extension with Boston.

With over $9 million in salary space remaining (according to @BruinsCapSpace), Boston has enough tax flexibility to sign Swayman to a multi-year deal with a hefty salary increase.

All parties involved have yet to close the gap in terms of the final annual payment at this point, but Swayman is not sounding the alarm at this point in the summer.

“There’s a lot of confidence,” Swayman said Wednesday during an appearance on the WEEI/NESN Jimmy Fund Radio-Telethon. “And I say that because I’ve treated it like I always have this year. I’ve been at the Warrior, I’ve worked out with our guys, our staff, our players. And I know there’s something special building in this locker room this year, and I couldn’t be more excited about it.”

“I know it’s going to work itself out over time, and all I can do is control how I’m going to become a better goalie for the Boston Bruins this year. So that’s all I’m focused on. And I know, again, it’s going to work out, and I couldn’t be happier to be a Bruin.”

While Swayman has yet to log a full season as the No. 1 starter, the 25-year-old goalie is primed to take on such a role with Boston in 2024-25 — especially with Linus Ullmark traded to Ottawa in June.

Swayman’s stock is also likely to skyrocket thanks to his stellar finish to the 2023-24 season, with Swayman posting a .933 save percentage in 12 appearances for the Bruins during the playoffs. His 13.3 goals saved above expected led all goaltenders during the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs (per MoneyPuck), despite only appearing in two rounds overall.

While the Bruins and Swayman’s camp may still be figuring out what his final payout might be going forward, former Bruins goalie Andrew Raycroft stressed last week that the lack of a deal at this point in the summer shouldn’t cause fans to panic.

“No level of concern. No updates, I haven’t heard anything,” Raycroft said on WEEI’s “The Skate Pod” earlier this month, adding: “Everybody’s gone. The hockey world, everybody’s gone. Since July 7th, when that development camp shut down the last one in the league, everybody’s gone.”

“There’s really no reason for fans to worry about a contract until September,” Raycoft said. “September 1st is when you might start thinking about it or even talking about it and even then they’ll have two weeks to do it. [until training camp begins].”
