Police in suburban Joliet are searching for the driver of the vehicle that struck and killed a 62-year-old man Saturday evening.
According to authorities, the man was crossing Chicago Street, near the intersection with Fourth Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. when he was struck by a silver sedan traveling at a high rate of speed.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Joliet police said a nearby surveillance camera captured video of the collision, revealing the vehicle was traveling north on Chicago Street at a high rate of speed.
The search continues to find the silver sedan, the front part of which is believed to have been damaged following the collision.
