A 6-year-old boy allegedly used a kitchen knife to fatally stab his 2-year-old brother in southwest suburban Joliet Friday night, Joliet police said.
Officers found the boy with multiple stab wounds shortly after 5 p.m. at a home in the 2700 block of Fairway Drive, according to a police department news release. The child was pronounced dead at Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center, police said.
Police said the investigation so far indicates the older boy stabbed his younger brother with a kitchen knife. The children’s family has been cooperating with the investigation and the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services has also been working on the investigation, according to the news release.
The boy’s identity was not known Friday evening. No other details were immediately available.
