Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance has responded to the nomination of Kamala Harris as vice president. Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as his running mate for 2024, saying the former high school football coach is “far left.”
“He’s a very far-left candidate. He’s a very far-left governor, but the fact that Kamala Harris chose him, I think, shows that she’s used very, very poor judgment and she doesn’t have what it takes to be president of the United States,” Vance said Tuesday on “Hannity.”
Walz was chosen over Jewish Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro in the vice presidential race, a choice that Vance said shows Harris has “bent the knee to the far left” of the Democratic Party.
“This decision, selection by Tim Walz“This is another sign that she doesn’t care what the American people think,” Vance said. “She’s just there to do the bidding of the far-left radicals in her own party. This is a truly shameful moment for Kamala Harris.”

He added that he believed “anti-Semites” within Harris’ party had driven the conversation about who should ultimately be given the running mate position.
Shapiro has been criticized by progressives for his pro-Israel stance and an op-ed he wrote in his college newspaper in which he described Palestinians as “too determined to fight to establish their own peaceful homeland.” according to a report Excerpt from the Philadelphia Inquirer.
A Harris aide refuted allegations that Shapiro was sidelined because of criticism from progressives and anti-Israel activists, telling the Forward that such suggestions were “absurd” and “absolutely ridiculous and offensive.”
“Josh Shapiro is a fantastic leader, and he was almost chosen,” the official told the outlet.
Shapiro delivered a rousing speech during Harris and Walz’s first joint appearance at a campaign rally Tuesday in Philadelphia.
