Kamala Harris will speak with “60 Minutes” tomorrow. Here’s what you need to know for the interview.

Voters will have the chance to hear from Vice President Kamala Harris on Monday as she makes her case for why she should be president in a “60 Minutes” election special.

For decades, “60 Minutes” has featured Republican and Democratic presidential candidates, but this year, former President Donald Trump withdrew after previously indicating he would appear on the show. Correspondent Scott Pelley, who was scheduled to interview Trump, will instead travel to Maricopa County, Arizona, home to more than 60% of Arizona voters and a crucial battleground in a key state.

One thing is certain about elections; With the United States deeply involved in wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, whoever wins on November 5 will become war president.

What Harris will discuss

Israel’s war began a year ago after Hamas launched a surprise terrorist attack and correspondent Bill Whitaker will discuss the ongoing war with Harris.

Harris will also discuss the economy, immigration, her record as vice president and the differences between her and Trump.

Democratic vice presidential nominee Gov. Tim Walz will also appear.

Whitaker joined the Democratic field on the campaign trail this week to get an overview of their platform’s priorities and values, as well as what the candidates think voters should know.

Why Trump withdrew from ’60 Minutes’ interview

Before the candidates’ hour, Trump, through campaign spokespeople, was the first candidate to accept “60 Minutes”‘ request to be interviewed for the special, according to CBS News. It was agreed that both candidates would receive equal airtime during the show.

Trump last sat down with 60 Minutes in 2020. He came out during the interview with Lesley Stahl. Trump referenced the Tuesday night incident during a news conference in Milwaukee when asked about his decision not to participate in the Oct. 7 “60 Minutes” special election.

“Well, right now I went… they came to me and wanted me to do an interview, but first I want to have an apology, because the last time I did an interview with them, if you remember, they challenged me on the computer,” Trump said. “They said the ‘laptop from hell’ came from Russia, and I said it wasn’t from Russia. It came from Hunter, and I never got an apology, so I’m kind of waiting. I’d love to do it” 60 Minutes. I do everything.”

The Republican presidential candidate stressed that he felt he was owed an apology from “60 Minutes.”

“Let’s see if they do it. I wouldn’t mind doing 60,” Trump continued. “I did ’60 Minutes’ a lot.”

In a statement released Tuesday, Trump campaign communications director Steven Cheung said Trump’s team had not agreed to an interview.

“Fake News,” Cheung said in an article on initials, but nothing was ever scheduled or locked in. They also insisted on doing live fact-checking, which is unprecedented.”

Previous appearances by Trump and Harris on 60 Minutes

Trump had already met Mike Wallace on “60 Minutes” in 1985, Pelley in 2015 and Lesley Stahl twice in 2016, First of all in July of the same year, then again in November of 2016. He also spoke again with Stahl in 2018 and 2020.

Harris previously spoke with Whitaker last year. She was also interviewed by “CBS Evening News” anchor and “60 Minutes” correspondent Norah O’Donnell in 2020.
