Klimt: The Immersive Experience in east London is kold, kynical and kriminally priced. And I’m not even out of pocket, having been in on a press ticket. If I’d bought a family bundle — £67.60 for two adults, two children; £130.60 for the VIP experience with virtual reality headsets and a “free” poster — I’d be spitting. The hidden booking fees are a punchline to an already bad joke.
What did the Viennese artist Gustav Klimt do to deserve this? Sure, The Kiss has become a cliché, but the immersive experience treatment is still pretty rum. Klimt is one of three “expos” running in London: Klimt and Van Gogh a few streets apart in Spitalfields, Frida & Diego at Canada Water. (Like Beyonce and
