Lanark: Man and teenager taken to hospital after serious assault on bus

A man and a teenage boy have been taken to hospital after being seriously assaulted on a Lanark bus.

A 35-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy boarded a bus in Thornton Road, Kirkmuirhill and were assaulted at around 11.10pm on Friday, July 26.

They were taken to hospital with serious injuries, where the man remains in critical condition. The young man was released after receiving treatment.

Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who could help with their investigations.

He is described as: white, 18 to 25 years old, wearing black shorts, a two-tone hooded jacket with a gray top half and a black bottom half, a black baseball cap.

The man boarded the bus at Abbeygreen, off New Trows Road, Lesmahagow, and exited the bus on Vere Road, off Strathaven Road in Kirkmuirhill, where he was last seen.

Chief Inspector Susie Cairns said: “Our inquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances of what happened and we are appealing for help.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened is asked to get in touch.

“We are also asking people to check their CCTV and if they have recorded anything that could assist our investigation, to please contact officers.”
