Live traffic updates on the M62 as long queues form due to ‘ongoing roadworks’

There are long queues on the M62 this morning due to ‘ongoing roadworks’.

According to the National Roads Authority, the planned works were due to finish by 6am this morning on the western section of the motorway, from junction 20 for Rochdale to junction 19 for Heywood. But “due to an abnormal load movement” they have now been overrun.

The highway closure is expected to continue until 7:30 a.m. Traffic is heavy until the closure and long queues are forming.

“Traffic is being diverted to local roads. If this closure impacts your planned route, please allow additional travel time. Plan ahead, you may wish to change your route or even delay your journey.”
