A security alert is in effect in Belfast, the PSNI has said.
An alert is in place in the Springfield Road area of west Belfast following the discovery of what the PSNI has described as a “suspicious object”.
Several roads surrounding the area have been closed.
The public is advised to avoid the area.

Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey issues brief statement
He said: “There is a security alert in effect at the bottom of Springfield Road and police are advising people to avoid the area.
“This forced many residents to leave their homes on a Sunday morning and also forced businesses to close.
“This is the last thing we want to see in the middle of summer, and I urge those responsible to stop preying on the community.”

A PSNI spokesperson released the following statement on social media site Twitter: “There is a security alert on Springfield Road in west Belfast following the discovery of a suspicious object. A number of surrounding roads have been closed and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.”
