Alan Sharp charged with killing Jenny Sharp, 80, after police found woman unconscious in Tolworth

An 80-year-old man has appeared in court charged with murdering his wife at their home in south-west London.
Alan Sharp, of Tolworth, is accused of killing Jenny Sharp, 80, at their Raeburn Avenue home.
The Metropolitan Police said they were called to the address at around 9.30am on Friday after a woman was found unconscious. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Sharp spoke only to confirm his name, age and address during the hearing at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court.
A post-mortem examination carried out on July 20 revealed that the cause of Jenny Sharp’s death was “manual compression of the neck”, the Metropolitan Police said.
The Metropolitan Police said they were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and the family were being supported by specialist officers.
Sharp will next appear for a bail hearing at the Old Bailey on Tuesday.
