Man dies after Jaguar Land Rover on-ramp crash

A man has died after a crash on the slip road at the Jaguar Land Rover site in Liverpool. Merseyside Police were called to South Road in Speke, near the junction with the A561 Speke Boulevard at around 7.15pm last night (19 July) to reports that a motorbike had been involved in a crash.

It is not yet known whether other vehicles were involved. Upon arrival, investigators found a 20-year-old man from the Preston area with serious injuries. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance where he died later that evening. The man’s family have been informed and are receiving support from specialist officers.

Detective Sergeant Kurt Timpson, leading the investigation at Merseyside Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU), said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family and we support them. Getting answers about what happened is now a priority for us and my team are working to establish the key facts.

“This collision occurred on the slip road into the Jaguar Land Rover site. We understand the motorcycle was travelling eastbound, having left Penketh Drive near Morrisons supermarket and turned right.

“Initial enquiries indicate that a number of vehicles were in the area at the time and I believe this may have been seen by members of the public or dash cams may have captured the scene. I am appealing directly to anyone who may have seen anything and has not yet spoken to my team to please get in touch.

“The motorcycle involved was a Suzuki SV650 and was a very distinctive yellow colour, which stood out to road users. Furthermore, I would also like to ask anyone who was in the area at the time and has a dash cam fitted to their vehicle to check it as a matter of urgency.

“These devices can often collect vital evidence without the driver of the vehicle being aware of it. Any help we receive, no matter how small, could help us in our investigation.”
