A man is fighting for his life after being attacked in a residential street in Wythenshawe.
Police attended the scene of a “disturbance” on Panfield Road at around 7.15pm this evening. Officers found a man with “life-threatening injuries” who was rushed to hospital.
A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault following the incident. The investigation is ongoing. Greater Manchester Police have not given further details.

Panfield Road was closed after the attack and a huge security cordon was put in place. Pictures from the scene show armed police swarming the area and several police vehicles, including a crime squad van, and a social protection unit parked on the road.
A police officer was seen photographing a knife lying on the road at the scene and a house inside the cordon was pictured with one of its front windows smashed.
Eyewitnesses reported seeing an air ambulance landing nearby and armed police swarming the area.
A GMP spokesperson said: “At around 7.15pm this evening (Sunday 21 July 2024) we were called to reports of a disturbance on Panfield Road in Wythenshawe.
Officers attended the scene and found a man with injuries described as life-threatening. He was taken to hospital for treatment.
“A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of assault under section 18.
“Investigations are ongoing.”
