A man who was attacked outside a pub at 4am is fighting for his life in hospital, police have revealed.
The man, whose identity has not been released, is believed to be in a critical condition, according to Greater Manchester Police. Police have issued a public appeal for anyone with information to come forward. The age of the victim has not been released.
In a statement, GMP said the man was the victim of a “serious assault” in Oldham town centre in the early hours of Monday morning.

He was allegedly attacked by another man outside The Bank pub on Yorkshire Street.
GMP said in the statement: “Officers in Oldham are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault in Oldham on Monday morning. At around 4.14am, outside The Bank pub on Yorkshire Street, a man was assaulted by another man.
“The victim remains in hospital in a critical condition. Police are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the attack to come forward and assist with the investigation.”
Detective Inspector Andy Day, of Oldham CID, said: “This is a serious incident in which the victim of this assault remains in a critical condition in hospital.
“We are now appealing for people to come forward and help us with our investigation – no information is too small. Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage can contact police on 0161 856 8962, quoting log number 1424 of 15/07/24.
