Martha Stewart gets real.

The lifestyle guru admitted in the trailer for her new Netflix documentary “Martha” that she had an affair during her decades-long marriage to her only husband, Andrew Stewart.

“Young women, take my advice, if you’re married and your husband starts cheating on you, he’s an asshole,” the 83-year-old said in the trailer. “Get out of this marriage.”

“You didn’t have an affair at the beginning?” a grower can be heard telling the home and garden specialist.

“Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew,” Stewart replied.

The new documentary covers Stewart’s marriage, her rise in the lifestyle industry and her legal woes.

“What does it mean to be the first self-made female billionaire in history?” Stewart asks rhetorically at the start of the trailer before laughing.

She added in the trailer that she was “considered crazy” as her career progressed, “but it worked.”

“I’m strict and demanding, and I’m all those good things that make a successful person,” she added.

Someone in the trailer said that while those qualities were great for a businessman, Stewart was called a “b—-.”

“I was so inspired by all of that,” Stewart admitted of being called an asshole.

“I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Stewart, a former model, worked as a stockbroker, then started a catering business in the 1970s, which led to the publication of her first cookbook, “Entertaining,” in 1982. Other books cooking followed and she began making appearances on television.

Her magazine, Martha Stewart Living, published its first issue in the winter of 1990.

But at the height of her success in 2004, she was indicted and convicted of several counts, including conspiracy, securities fraud and obstruction of justice. She served five months in a minimum-security federal prison.

“I was a trophy to these idiots,” Stewart claimed in the documentary. “I was put in solitary confinement. No food or water. Those prosecutors should have been put in a Cuisinart and turned on.”

She said that after her release from prison, she had to “climb out of a hole” professionally, but in the mid-’80s, the lifestyle icon continued to remain relevant, through her friendship with Snoop Dogg and his thirst traps published on social networks. to the continued success of its brand.

“What is more important? Marriage or a career?” she posited in the documentary.

After a producer told him, “Tell me,” Stewart responded, “I don’t know.”

“The cookie-cutter house and the cookie-cutter life wasn’t for me,” she said in the trailer. “I could have been a miserable housewife, but I didn’t let that happen to me, and I’m so glad I didn’t.”

The former couple married in 1961 and divorced in 1990. Their only daughter, Alexis, 59, followed in her mother’s footsteps as a radio and television presenter, notably for her mother’s brand .

Stewart admitted that the divorce had been difficult for her, in a 2020 interview with People magazine.

“Divorcing was a terrible thing for me, because we were the first in my family to divorce,” she said. “And the fact that we haven’t spoken since the divorce is even more painful. But I am very strong and very motivated to continue living.”

“Martha” is available to stream on Netflix on October 30.
