Chicago police said several gunmen got out of a sedan overnight and opened fire on another vehicle, killing at least three people in the Austin neighborhood.
Shortly after 12:30 a.m. Saturday, several people got out of a white sedan and opened fire and began shooting at another vehicle, hitting the person inside and two other victims standing nearby, police said.
A 33-year-old man inside the vehicle targeted by the shooters was shot in the left thigh and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he is in fair condition. A 43-year-old man standing nearby was shot in the face and was taken to Loretto Hospital in critical condition. A third man, 51, also standing nearby, was shot in the torso and leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, police said.
No one was in custody and detectives were investigating.
