Netflix will release a three-part limited documentary series about the Karen Read saga, the streaming giant announced Friday.

Netflix has announced that the series will follow the events leading up to the death of Boston police officer John O’Keefe. The series, which is not yet titled, does not yet have a release date.

Karen Read made national headlines after a controversial and high-profile murder that ended in a mistrial earlier this summer. Prosecutors alleged that Read, a 44-year-old teacher, intentionally backed her car into O’Keefe, her boyfriend, and left him to die. Read’s defense attorneys have argued that she was framed, pushing the theory that law enforcement had concocted a cover-up.

After a week of deliberation, the jury said it could not reach a verdict and Judge Beverly Cannone declared a mistrial on July 1. Prosecutors said they plan to retry the case.

In the series announcement, Netflix said the case had “inspired many conversations.”

“This is a case that has generated considerable public attention and has far-reaching implications,” co-directors Danielle Johnson and Rob Miller said in the statement. “We also recognize that this is an extremely sensitive matter and are committed to treating everyone involved with the respect and consideration they deserve.”
