Schwalbe has released the G-One RS, which is said to be the brand’s fastest gravel tire ever.
The tire has 20 percent less rolling resistance than the G-One R gravel tire, according to Schwalbe.
Schwalbe says it has achieved this by pairing a semi-smooth pattern in the middle of the tread with inspiration from the brand’s X-One Speed cyclocross tires.
The G-One RS has been launched ahead of the 2022 Unbound gravel race this weekend. Schwalbe says, however, that the tire has already been successful at races in 2022. Ivar Slik won Traka Girona with the tire, while Jasper Ockeloen won at Gravel Locos, with Slik in second place.
Schwalbe says the G-One RS will be available from August and will cost € 72.90.
‘Race speed with cyclocross grip’
Schwalbe says the G-One RS will offer “racing speed with cyclocross grips”, due to its combination of tread patterns.
The tubeless tire uses Schwalbe’s Addix Race blend, with the center section and outer edge of the tire tailored to meet different needs.
The semi-smooth, central part of the tire is said to allow for fast driving. Schwalbe says this section has a “scale structure” described as a “zig-zagging herringbone” to provide more braking power and steering grip, which in turn helps the tire run faster, according to Schwalbe.
The outer edge of the tire is said to provide greater grip. The tread pattern consists of different blocks, with longer ears on the outer edge of the tire for uphill traction and then shorter ears to provide better grip in the turns, according to Schwalbe.
The tire has Schwalbe’s Super Race carcass, which was first introduced on the Schwalbe Pro One, is said to provide agility, grip and puncture protection.
Schwalbe has used its V-Guard puncture protection in the G-One RS and the tire has three layers for sidewall protection.
Not just a gravel deck?

While Schwalbe has timed the launch of the G-One RS to coincide with Unbound, one of the largest gravel races in the world, the brand says the tire is not exclusively aimed at the gravel market.
The tire will be available in three sizes: 35 mm, 40 mm and 45 mm.
Schwalbe says the 35mm version of the tire is designed to fit cyclocross bikes (although this is 2mm wider than the maximum 33mm tire size for UCI cyclocross races) and to fit the latest endurance road bikes.
The sizes of 40 mm and 45 mm are aimed at the gravel market, however with the 40 mm option focused more on racing and 45 mm for riders looking for “extra grip … and comfort”.
