NYT ‘Connections’ from October 3: clues and answers for game n°480

When Relationships was introduced in June 2023, it quickly became a hit game.

In fact, it was so popular that it was a close second Word as one of the most played games on the New York Times games app and website.

The Daily Word Puzzle is edited by Wyna Liu for the newspaper and she shared some game tips with News week ahead of the game’s first anniversary in June.

“My best advice is to wait as long as possible before guessing,” she said. “You can see the board and have completely identified the category, seeing five words that could fall into that category.”

“Don’t try to guess the four words in this category, because even if you know what the fifth member is, you won’t know which of the four it might not be”, which at the end of account would cause you to lose a turn.

She recommended trying to solve for another category first, as this would likely remove words that might belong to more than one group, reducing the chance of error, as “your four guesses go by extremely quickly.”

How to play “Connections”

There are 16 words that appear and the player must sort them into groups of four in four categories based on how they think the words might be associated. For example, a precedent Relationships The puzzle featured the words “treat”, “host”, “plan” and “arrange” grouped together under the category “Help plan a party”.

Each of the four categories is labeled with a color that lets you know their difficulty level, with yellow being the easiest category, followed by green, blue and purple. The puzzles are not always simple and use a range of possible associations from homophones to puns, among other techniques.

The answers to Thursday’s riddle can be found near the end of the article, so scroll down with caution if you want to solve them yourself.
