NYT ‘Connections’ November 5: Clues and answers for game #513

News week is back for another day of the best Connections clues to continue your winning streak.

Since its beginnings in The New York Times in June 2023, Connections has quickly built a large audience. The puzzle challenges players to group words based on subtle connections, combining logic and language skills. Today it ranks as the Times‘ the second most popular game, just after Wordle.

It is edited by Wyna Liu who said News week in June, one of his tips for playing is to stay patient and not “rage solve” by providing your answers quickly.

How to play connections

Players receive a table of 16 words. These are divided into four groups of four based on common characteristics and classified into categories. The categories vary in difficulty from yellow to green to blue to purple, with yellow considered the easiest category and purple the trickiest.

For example, a recent game combined the words “braid,” “bun,” “pony,” and “twist” in the “Ways to Hairstyle” category. It was a blue category.

Once you have selected four words, you click the “Submit” button. If your choices are correct, they will appear in the category color and disappear from the grid. However, if they are incorrect, they will remain gray and remain on the board.

If you’re stuck, try selecting the “Shuffle” button to move the words to another location on the grid.

Keep scrolling for today’s hookup tips, but be warned. The answers to the riddle will be revealed at the bottom of the page. So, if you prefer to avoid spoilers, we advise you to browse the page with caution.

Connections editor Wyna Liu recently shared her tips for playing and solving the hit game.
