If you’re looking for help solving today’s Connections puzzle, you’ve come to the right place. News week contains some helpful tips to give your brain the boost it needs to get the right answers.
The popular puzzle was published by The New York Times in June 2023 and became the newspaper’s second most popular game. Wordle, another word-based puzzle from the publication, currently holds the top spot.
In June, the developer of Connections and Times Crossword editor Wyna Liu said the game’s global popularity was “truly incredible” and “overwhelming.”
When it comes to winning the game, Liu said his best advice “is to wait as long as possible before guessing.”
“Don’t do what I do, which is ‘resolve the rage,'” she added.

How to play connections
If you’ve never played Connections before, the rules of the game are easy to understand.
To begin, players are given a table of 16 words. These words should be divided into four groups of four based on common characteristics and placed into categories. The categories vary in difficulty from yellow to green to blue to purple, with yellow considered the easiest category and purple the trickiest category.
For example, Monday’s game combined the words “braid”, “bun”, “pony” and “twist” in the “Ways to do your hair” category. It was a blue category.
Once you have selected four words, you will click the “Submit” button. If your choices are correct, they will appear in the category color and disappear from the grid. However, if they are incorrect, they will remain gray and remain on the board.
If you’re stuck, try selecting the “Shuffle” button to move the words to another location on the grid. It might just give you the refresh you’ve been looking for.
