Patriots rookie wide receiver Javon Baker responded to a live video broadcast on his Instagram account that showed him yelling at a police officer giving him a ticket at Logan Airport.

“You’re not going to start yelling at me and think I’m not worthy of answering you,” Baker said in the video. “Who do you think you are? Just because you’re a cop doesn’t mean nothing, bro. I pay you with my tax dollars. Come on, bro, you work for me.”

Baker reportedly told Pro Football Network’s Dakota Randall that he did not regret the video.

“If I had to apologize to anybody or if I had to do something, I already did it,” Baker told Randall. “Ultimately, that’s a question that comes down to coach Jerod (Mayo).”

“I don’t know, honestly,” Baker added. “I guess there’s more scrutiny because I’m in the NFL. But if I regret something I said, I never would have said it. So, I don’t regret anything.”

“Ultimately, it’s a question for Coach Mayo.”

The Patriots punished Baker for the video, but the punishment fell short of forcing him to miss a game, Mayo said earlier this week.

“Everything you just said in no way represents who the organization is, in no way represents who we are as a team, or how Javon should present himself and represent himself,” Mayo said. “We handled it internally. We had a great conversation. I think it’s a combination of immaturity and realizing the big picture, that we’re on a big stage here and you can’t do these things.”

Baker, a fourth-round pick out of Central Florida, has shown signs of success this preseason and earned a spot on the 53-man roster. He made several notable catches during training camp, but he hasn’t yet shown the kind of consistency that would allow him to play a larger role in the offense.

He had a few catches in games, including one on a deep pass from Drake Maye against the Eagles. He had five receptions in three preseason games for a total of 46 yards.

This Sunday’s game against the Bengals will be Baker’s first regular-season NFL game.
