SAN JOSE — A pedestrian died Sunday night after being struck by a car, police said.
The fatal collision — the 32nd fatality on San Jose streets this year — happened around 10:30 p.m. in the area of Snell Avenue and Capitol Expressway, according to a statement from San Jose police.
An ambulance took the pedestrian to hospital, where police said she died of her injuries. Authorities were unable to identify her Monday morning.
Police said the driver of the car that struck the pedestrian remained at the scene, spoke with investigators and continues to cooperate.
The Capitol Expressway was closed from Seven Trees Boulevard to Snell Avenue westbound and from Vista Avenue to Snell Avenue eastbound, police said. Authorities also closed the intersection of Snell Avenue and the Capitol Expressway.
These roads remained closed until around 4:50 a.m.
