WASHINGTON, DC – Thanks to the Passport Auto Group, the Central Union Mission now has a sweet new ride to assist in its mission of providing a pathway out of homelessness and poverty for the District’s hungry and homeless.
On Thursday morning, Everett Hellmuth, president of Passport Auto Group, presented a 2022 Nissan Frontier pickup truck to Joe Mettimano, president and CEO of Central Union Mission, outside the mission’s headquarters on Massachusetts Avenue, Northwest. The truck will be used to support the nonprofit’s job training program.
Passport Auto Group, which is the mission’s 2022 Business Sponsor of the Year, donates time and money to local organizations that make the community a better place. The family run business founded in 1991 operates nine automobile dealerships across Virginia and Maryland.
In a typical year, the Central Union Mission receives more than $ 7 million in food donations, which allows it to feed more than 4,000 people each month. In addition, the mission provides 62,000 bed nights of shelter annually, and provides 117,736 meals on-site for men who are experiencing homelessness.
