Pilot dies in light aircraft crash at airfield near Laxton

A police spokesman said: “A pilot has sadly died after a light aircraft crashed at Spanhoe airfield, near Laxton, Corby.

“The pilot, a man in his sixties, was the only occupant of the plane.”

A spokesperson for East Midlands Ambulance said they received reports of a medical emergency at around 12.44pm.

“We sent two paramedics in individual emergency vehicles and one ambulance with crew,” the spokesman said.

“The air ambulance, police and fire brigade were also on scene. All our resources have since left the scene.”

Northamptonshire Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.
