Plans for 20-metre 5G pole near Cassiobury Park, Watford

A planning application has been submitted for a 20-metre 5G pole in Watford.

Applicant CK Hutchison, which owns Three Mobile, has proposed to install it on the footway outside Cassiobury Tennis Club, in The Gardens, near Cassiobury Park.

Neighbours have been notified and will have an opportunity to comment on the application, which was validated by Watford Borough Council this week.

If approved, the fir green pole would be put up alongside accompanying equipment cabinets.

In the application, the chartered surveyor says: “Three is committed to providing improved network coverage and capacity, most notably in relation to 5G services.

“It is considered that the proposed street pole clearly represents the optimum environmental solution to extend coverage to the target community.”

Earlier this month, an application by the conglomerate for a 15-metre pole in Little Bushey Lane, Bushey Heath, was approved by Hertsmere Borough Council.

The council had previously turned down an application in 2021 for a 20-metre mast because of its height, describing it as “highly obtrusive” for residents.
