Officers responded to a call of shots fired Wednesday night and were involved in a collision with an SUV on the Far South Side’s West Pullman neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers in a patrol car with sirens activated responded to a call about shots fired. As the patrol car entered an intersection in the 500 block of West 107th Street, it collided with a black SUV with two occupants, police said.
The occupants, a 32-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, fled on foot but were taken into custody a short distance from the scene, police said. Two officers were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and both are in good condition, police said. The occupants of the SUV declined medical attention. The driver of the SUV, an 88-year-old man, was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for evaluation. A passenger in the SUV, a 32-year-old man, was also taken to the same hospital where he was listed in good condition. A police officer suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital in good condition, police said.
Police said no tickets would be issued at this time and detectives were investigating.
