Pornhub to remove access to its Florida site in protest against age verification law

With a stroke of the pen.

Pornhub is ending its sleazy services in Florida on January 1, to protest the state’s new age verification law.

Gutter-conscious Internet users with Florida IP addresses received a special pop-up announcement Tuesday outlining the pornographic website’s plans to remove its content from the Sunshine State.

“YOU WILL LOSE ACCESS TO PORNHUB IN 14 DAYS,” the alert banner read.

“Did you know that your government wants you to give your driver’s license before you can access PORNHUB?” the smut sellers wrote in disbelief. “As crazy as it sounds, it’s true. You will need to prove that you are 18 years or older, such as by uploading your government ID for each adult content website you wish to access.

Florida’s new law HB3 provides online protections for minors, requiring social media platforms to prohibit underage internet users from accessing harmful material.

Age verification through government identification is one of the mechanisms by which the law will be enacted by the Republican-led state.

The law is considered by legal experts to be broad and sweeping and faces legal challenges.

Florida is being sued in United States District Court by Free Speech Coalition, INC., Deep Connection Technologies, INC., JFF Publications, LLC, Barry Chase, Esq, and PHE INC.

This lawsuit claims that HB3 is just the latest in a wave of laws that unconstitutionally seek to ban speech and insists on the “murky definition of ‘material harmful to minors’.”

“Despite the claims of promoters, [the law] it’s not the same as showing ID at a liquor store,” Alison Boden, executive director of the Free Speech Coalition, wrote in a statement.

“It’s invasive and carries a significant privacy risk,” Boden added.

The Free Speech Coalition is a trade association for the adult entertainment industry.

The bill passed with overwhelming support in the Florida House and Senate in March.

Smut age verification laws have been passed in 18 other states.

Louisiana, Utah, Mississippi, Virginia, Arkansas, Texas, Montana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Kentucky, Nebraska, Alabama, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Georgia have all also passed similar laws requiring ID.

Pornhub shut down its sex services in Texas earlier this year to protest age verification laws in the Lone Star State.

The Lone Star State sued the porn site in February, alleging the company violated state law by failing to implement age verification measures.

Earlier this year, the porn site revealed that the most popular term searched for by horndogs in the Sunshine State was “MAGA.”

Pornhub did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
