Power outages occur in Rhode Island as a powerful storm passes through the state.

Rhode Island is expected to receive 2 to 3 inches of rain, with up to 4 inches in some areas, as a bomb cyclone moves through the Northeast, according to the National Weather Service. The state is currently under a strong wind advisory, with southerly winds gusting 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 60 mph.

The group canceled Block Island ferry service today due to “adverse sea conditions,” limiting who can cross the Newport Pell and Jamestown bridges, and causing power outages.

Rhode Island Energy said it was “closely monitoring” the storm on X.
