You’ll know fall is here when the leaves start to fall, the Patriots lose their Sunday games, and Dunkin’ serves up its line of comforting pumpkin spice drinks.

Amid the bitter cold and New England football woes, Dunkin’s iconic pumpkin spice line can consistently lift fans’ spirits — and this year, they’re adding booze.

Last week, the company announced a limited-edition Dunkin’ Spiked Pumpkin Spice Iced Latte. The canned beverage joins Dunkin’ Spiked’s original ready-to-drink alcoholic coffee flavors, caramel, mocha and vanilla.

“As one of our most anticipated seasonal offerings, the Pumpkin Spice Latte has become a staple of everyone’s favorite hot beverage season,” said Brian Gilbert, vice president of business development for Dunkin’s. “With that in mind, we knew we had an opportunity to create something special with a grown-up twist on this beloved beverage.”

The coffee company recommends either opening the can itself or pouring the coffee over ice and topping it with whipped cream. The drink, which contains 6% alcohol, is vegan and suitable for people with lactose intolerance, with non-dairy creamer.

The drink will be available in grocery and local stores in 27 states, the company said in a news release.

The limited-edition drink follows the success of Dunkin’ Spiked over the past year, particularly in New England, the company said.

“After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response to our spiced iced coffees after just one year on the market, the Dunkin’ Spiked Pumpkin Spice Iced Latte felt like a natural addition to the lineup,” Gilbert said.
