Trump supporters can follow his lead
Garwood, New Jersey: MAGA supporters are a deeply strange tribe, constantly looking under rocks for the “other” so they can persecute them for the crime of not behaving as they do. It’s funny, then, that the reddest state of all, the very heart and soul of the old Confederacy, has two “quiet” senators—one a wretch so unproud of himself that he went from criticizing Donald Trump to sycophant of the former game show host overnight, presumably because Trump threatened to expose his secret life. History will not be kind to the senator. It’s funny that his state’s other senator is on the Republican ticket for vice president.
After his defeat in November, a heavy-hearted Donnie will lash out at unworthy members of the GOP who let him down, and denounce the two senators anyway. Don will likely then rush the short 90-mile trip to Cuba, and from there, aboard a Russian submarine, to a waiting dacha on the Black Sea. With neighbors like Russian citizen Steven Seagal, they could form a Russian chapter of the Fans of Benedict Arnold Society.
I bet Donnie will be heading to North Korea, where he will have a choice of jobs: host of a new version of the “Gong Show” where losers are executed, or as Kim Jong-un’s court jester. Millions of MAGA fans and the entire NY Post readership will try to follow him, like lemmings, gathering in such numbers at the South Korean border that the North Korean people will demand new walls be built to keep these seething masses out. Border police?
Sunnyside: If Kamala Harris claims she hasn’t changed her mind, bragging about going after criminals and illegal migrant cartels as District Attorney and then as California Attorney General, then why would she and Joe Biden knowingly allow millions of illegal and unvetted migrants into our country knowing the risk? Glenn J. McManus
Absent leadership
Valley Stream, LI: I don’t care who our next president is, as long as he or she abolishes the Census Bureau. The last six administrations have proven that they don’t care who or what comes into this country. I believe this because this violation of our southern border has been a secret for at least 25 years. Not a single president in that time, to my knowledge, has acknowledged the heartache that our citizens in the southern United States living along the border are going through, and openly stated that something is wrong and needs to be fixed, proving that if our country’s leaders don’t care how many people come into this country and where they live, why do we need a Census Bureau? Why do we have leaders if they don’t lead us? John Esposito
Manual for combating electoral fraud
Glen Head, LI: As we approach the 2024 election, I want to remind all loyal Democratic voters to follow the plan: vote early and vote often! Also, bring any illegals you can find on the streets to vote. Since no ID is required, with proper supervision, anyone can vote in some sections of New York City and New York State. Get your absentee ballots, fill them out, and mail them in. You can also go to your polling place and vote! With early voting, you can vote at a number of different polling places (no ID required)! Do you really think anyone is going to check to see if voters who submitted absentee ballots also showed up to vote in person, especially in Democrat-controlled precincts? That’s how it works, by the way! Robert Kralick
Let’s be realistic
Bronx: Unemployment is down, job creation is up. Under Trump, there has been the largest job loss since the Great Depression. “Illegal” immigrants make up a large portion of our farm workers and food processors. The biggest immigrant crime wave occurred in centuries past, when white Europeans slaughtered real Native Americans. According to the latest available FBI statistics, crime declined between 2020 and 2022. Then-President Trump certainly showed no concern for law and order on January 6, 2021, the day he attempted to make himself a dictator. Any Trump supporters wondering why Germans fell for Hitler should take a look in the mirror. Why are you so willing to vote to give up your freedom? Richard Warren
Misplaced criticism
Brookfield, Conn.: To Frank Mongiello, campaign spokesman: “The orange chicken lied about his bone spurs. Did President Biden lie about his asthma? He got the same number of postponements, but you voted for him. As for avoiding the debate, the last I heard about it, it was Harris delaying the debates, wanting the microphones on all the time. You also mentioned Harris’ intelligence, values, and morals. We won’t mention values and morals because she is, after all, a Democrat. And is my hair smarter, or have you not been paying attention the last four years?” Fred Schoeneborn
Cheap Defamation
Swarthmore, Pennsylvania: Donald Trump recently took to his social media to imply that Kamala Harris’ political rise was not due to her skills, but rather to her sexual acts on powerful men. Trump has often called her “not smart,” a thinly veiled bigoted insult to Kamala Harris, who is a black woman. Trump is now saying that not only is she stupid, but she has also sexually exploited her body, using sex to advance her political career. When you would think Trump couldn’t be more vile and vile, he manages to sink even lower. Ken Derow
Try this
Auburndale: People who have trouble remembering how to pronounce the word “Kamala” have a simple remedy: call her “VP Harris” or “Future President Harris.” Cathy came
Nobody is fooled
Brooklyn: I am a retired NYPD Lieutenant, a first responder who survived cancer during the World Trade Center terrorist attacks, and a proud 22-year veteran of the NYPD uniform. We are known as the best in New York, but Mayor Adams seems to think we are the dumbest in New York. Stop telling us how great Aetna’s Medicare Advantage program is. We know it is inferior to traditional Medicare. Stop telling us how much money New York will save with this change. Studies have been done. There is no significant cost savings. I am 69 years old and a lifelong New Yorker. We are not stupid. We are seniors who have been around the block many times. We are New Yorkers. Stop trying to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge. Jack La Torre
Powered by fossil fuels
Glendale: David Bissoon, a reporter for Voices, can’t seem to think for himself. He can only parrot the slogans and ideas of others. He says that Governor Hochul should sign the Climate Change Superfund Act that would force fossil fuel companies to pay for the damage they’ve done. I would argue that these fossil fuel companies have improved the lives of all of us. For years, they’ve provided the fuel that keeps trucks running, delivers food to markets, and provides us with the goods we need. Plus, during the winter, they heat our homes, which if left to Mother Nature would cause water pipes everywhere to burst! David, do you read by electric light or use a candle at night? I could go on. By the way, I don’t work for a fossil fuel company, I’m just someone who can think for himself. Thomas Murawski
No animals
Rosedale: To David Gonzalez, the spokesman: I couldn’t agree more. Forget malls and department stores. I work in a grocery store. Why do I have to tell people they can’t put their dog in their cart first, and then explain why that’s inappropriate? Like you, I have no problem with dogs. But they’re not people and they don’t belong anywhere there are people. Except for service animals, of course. But not “emotional support” dogs, because all pets are emotional support animals because you love them and they love you. Shirley Jordan
