These are the reasons why I voted for Donald Trump

Brooklyn: This election reminds me of the Reagan-Carter election of 1980: it was supposed to be close; Ronald Reagan won a landslide victory. He did it because he ran against the worst president of the time. The new worst, President Biden, is a figurehead and Trojan horse of the progressive left.

Inflation due to overspending on government debt ($36 trillion national debt) increased to 9%. It fell to 2.5%, more than under Donald Trump. Prices have not returned to pre-Biden levels. Americans’ personal debt – used to fight inflation – is at an all-time high. Americans still feel the pain.

My biggest concern is the invasion and infiltration of our country. We live in fear of going to Manhattan, or whatever our favorite city is. Jocelyn Nungaray was raped and killed by illegal immigrants. Laken Riley was raped and killed by an illegal immigrant. This is the country your children and grandchildren will inherit. Criminals released without bail to commit crimes again, because like a tarantula, that’s what they do. Just as important, our national security is at stake. Enemy foreign countries do not fear us and create whatever acts of aggression they want. Biden, an angry old man, believes that he does not need to talk to Vladimir Putin, so the war between Russia and Ukraine continues. Good presidents would have initiated diplomacy, putting aside personal animosities for the good of Ukraine and humanity. The Biden administration has failed at foreign leadership, and Kamala Harris can’t see what she would do differently.

On Tuesday, I voted for Trump for the second term he so rightfully deserves and that the American people desperately need. David DiBello

Same thing again?

Kew Gardens: Well, the election is finally over and now we will see if the new administration follows the traditional path. I first voted in the late 1960s and began to notice a distinct trend. If the Republicans won, they gave all the money to the rich, just like Reagan, Bush Sr. and Trump. When the Democrats won, all the money went to the poor and social services. The working classes have never seen their lives improve. What will the MAGAs say in four years, when they are no further ahead? Who will they attack then? I’ve said it before and it bears repeating: the two most destructive organizations in America today are politicians and fundamentalist religion. Jeff Pullen

Lost love

Hauppauge, LI: I really didn’t think all this hatred would win. Greg Arnold

Backlash

Ormond Beach, Florida: Trump’s second election as president of the United States is the natural result of the left’s highly politically correct, anti-white, anti-men, and anti-American rhetoric. It turns out that if you demonize people you disagree with, portray them as racists and oppressors, and tell them that all their successes are the result of unearned privilege, they will create a counter-revolution. It is the consequence of their actions, their rhetoric and the identity politics that they introduced into the American political landscape. Progressive liberals, you have made your bed. Now lie in it. Charles Michael Sitero

Prepare for impact

Manhattan: Despite being part of the most successful administration in living memory, even though he ran against a convicted felon, a rapist, a womanizer, a liar, and a businessman bankrupt, Harris lost. Was it because she was a black woman? What role did men refusing to elect a woman play? Difficult questions to answer or discuss. Now America will pay for its sins. The MAGA party controls all three branches of government. Women will continue to die due to lack of necessary medical care. We will see costs rise, the stock market fall, the deficit rise, entitlements stripped away, and minority communities suffer from white supremacy. Climate change will continue to ravage our cities and disruption and chaos will prevail. Cowardice has succumbed to grievance; reality has succumbed to lies and distortion; the lust for power prevailed and the rule of law failed. The question now is will New York State send him to prison? Andrew Carl Jones

Corrected course

Brooklyn: My cheeks hurt. I’m so happy that we can once again lead America as the world power it should return to instead of worrying about bathrooms and pronouns. We are ready for a woman to be president, but not this woman. God bless America, President Trump and his family. Joe Much

Lessons to learn

Manhattan: This election wasn’t even close. Trump has gained ground everywhere. He almost won New Jersey. This is a profound humiliation and a catastrophic defeat for the Democrats. They have to think about themselves. They sell a lot of stuff, but almost no one buys. What lesson for Democrats? The “woke stuff” was never going to stay outside of Brooklyn and San Francisco. There is a perception that Democrats have gone too far left on some cultural issues. Trump ran an ad declaring, “Harris is for them. Trump is for you. I don’t think anyone particularly needs the term “Latinx.” Democrats must recognize that they must change course or risk losing the White House for a generation. Trump has assembled a coalition of working-class voters from different racial/ethnic groups that represents a sustainable majority if it persists. Daniel Dolgicer

It’s time to unite

Malverne, LI: As I write this, Trump has secured 312 possible electoral votes and more than 70 million popular votes, nearly 5 million more than Harris, decisively giving him the White House, and he will be the 47th President of the United States. It seems all the lies about him coming from the mainstream media and the Democrats have fallen on deaf ears, as people have come to understand. So, now let’s stop the rhetoric and false narratives about MAGA and Trump and bring this country together so we can be stronger and greater than we have been. Dave Kalin

Awesome numbers

Yorktown Heights, NY: Is the person who does election poll calculations the same person who is in charge of analysis for the Chicago White Sox? Anthony Végliante

Tax evasion

Merion Station, Pennsylvania: Now that the election is over, I am returning to the workforce because it will not affect my Social Security check, which will no longer be taxed. My only question is whether I should start working for tips, which will not be taxed, or whether I should take a 40 hour per week job where my overtime will not be taxed. Paul L. Newman

Prophetic return

Woodland Park, NJ: Despite all the disparaging articles and opinions of Trump by your readers and the media, he still won the presidency. God is said to act in strange ways, and throughout the Bible He has been shown to love sinners: the worse the better. Just look at the example of David, an adulterer and murderer, but God made him king of the land of Israel and called him a man after his own heart (1 Samuel 13-14; Acts 13-22). It seems to me that Trump could be the modern-day David. Melanie Noonan

Deadly detention model

Swarthmore, Pennsylvania: There is widespread agreement that Israel has the right, indeed the obligation, to defend its borders and to repel and degrade the military capabilities of its enemies, including terrorist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. But now we have to ask ourselves: when is enough enough? When will the destruction of property that has reduced much of Gaza to rubble and inflicted unimaginable horror, suffering and loss on the people living there move from what can be considered reasonable retaliation to a cruel and beyond the ordinary? The question that needs to be answered is whether Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is continuing hostilities not to defend his country but to ward off his myriad legal worries that, if prosecuted, could land him in prison. It now appears that Netanyahu is more concerned with using his continued military response to maintain power and postpone the inevitable day of reckoning he faces. Ken Derow

Design flaw

Middle Village: I paid $177.90 for three new trash cans on August 29 to meet the November 12 deadline. They arrived, however, the one for the trash can has at best a flimsy plastic clip that any rodent could chew through. Liz Wildner Smith
