Zendaya and Robert Pattinson were spotted on the set of “The Drama,” a new movie filming in the Boston area this fall.
Production on Zendaya and Robert Pattinson’s new film, “The Drama,” has officially begun in Boston, fueling a surge in film crews and a deluge of celebrity sightings.
On Thursday, A24 crews took over much of downtown Boston near the Bank of America building, parking along High Street, Federal Street and Franklin Street.
As cars held up by police on Summer Street impatiently honked their horns, Pattinson filmed a scene outside the Bank of America building across the street from South Station.
Students at Phillips Andover Academy posted videos to Instagram and TikTok on Wednesday of Zendaya and Pattinson arriving and leaving on set.
Film crews transformed the private school’s Addison Art Gallery into a fictional “Cambridge Art Museum,” where Pattinson’s character works in the film, according to a source close to the production.

Decorations included a banner for the “Greetings From” gallery by real-life artist Eirik Sæther. Sæther previously collaborated with “The Drama” director (and fellow Norwegian) Kristoffer Borgli, in Borgli’s 2022 film “Sick of Myself.”
The source confirmed that filming will continue in Boston and Cambridge throughout the fall, and will also travel to Ipswich before wrapping in December.
In addition to being spotted on set, Zendaya also enjoyed a bite to eat on the patio at Beacon Hill Tatte on Tuesday. She previously visited the Back Bay cafe with her boyfriend Tom Holland when she was filming the tennis drama “Challengers” filmed in Boston in 2022.

Zendaya is back in Boston, apparently to film a movie with Robert Pattinson
Alongside Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, “The Drama” is set to star Mamoudou Athie (“Elemental”) and singer/actress Alana Haim (“Licorice Pizza”). (A Boston.com reporter spotted Haim and Athie at the Somerville Theater before filming in October.)
Directed by Borgli (“Dream Scenario”), “The Drama” is produced by Ari Aster, who helped shape A24’s identity with horror hits like “Midsommar” and “Hereditary.”
Local film workers began recruiting staff to the project this summer, and location scouts began putting up signs in Back Bay and Charlestown in early September during pre-production.
Filming on “The Drama” is expected to take place throughout the fall and wrap up sometime in December.
The plot of “The Drama” concerns a couple, played by Zendaya and Pattinson, who must reckon with events from their past before getting married.
No release date has been set for “The Drama,” but barring delays in post-production, a 2025 release date seems likely.
