Roy Keane names player with ‘Scary Potential’ Manchester United missed

Roy Keane has garnered praise for Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham, who Manchester United missed a few years ago.

Still only 18, Bellingham has developed into one of the most exciting midfielders on the market and has shown maturity beyond his years in shows for club and country.

Dortmund paid £ 25m for a 17-year-old Dortmund after seeing him excel at Birmingham City and avert interest from United.

United rolled the red carpet off Bellingham, gave him a tour of Carrington and reportedly arranged a meeting with Sir Alex Ferguson to try to convince him to sign.

But he chose to move abroad to Germany, and Keane believes he has all the tools to go all the way to the top.

“He has a great chance, kid, we love everything about him,” Keane said on ITV’s coverage of England’s 10-0 defeat to San Marino.

“What he does on the pitch, the way he speaks from it, he plays week after week for a top club [Borussia Dortmund]. The potential of this child is frightening.

“I recently saw him play in a Champions League match and he produced passes … I did not think he had it in his closet yet.

“The potential for this boy, he’s a good size, he’s like a boxer, he’s a strong and powerful boy. Gareth [Southgate] must rub his hands. “

The youngest goal scorer in Dortmund’s history, Bellingham was named ‘Newcomer of the Season’ by his teammates in the Bundesliga last season.

He is now a regular in the English squad and has played 10 matches for his country.

Bellingham have been constantly linked with a switch back to England, but Dortmund are desperate to tie their No. 22 to a new contract and even willing to sign his younger brother Jobe to make him stay.

“He is a Borussia Dortmund player and will remain a Borussia Dortmund player,” said Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl. Sport1 about his future.

“There is a lot of interest in Jude Bellingham, not just Liverpool.

“But there is no bottom line and no exit clause. He is loved, he enjoys it. There is no sign that he can leave Dortmund soon.”
