SAN JOSE — A San Francisco Bay Area swim coach has been arrested on suspicion of molesting or assaulting a minor, police said.
Detectives launched an investigation in January after receiving a report that the coach — identified as a 28-year-old San Mateo man — had sent inappropriate messages to a female student, San Jose police spokeswoman Stacie Shih said in a news release Friday.
The messages were sent last year, between July and September, and contained sexually explicit content, Shih said. At the time, the suspect was a coach in Milpitas.
On July 18, investigators arrested the coach in San Mateo, Shih said. He was later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on charges of molesting or assaulting a minor.
