Local media reported that one of the men became irritated when he noticed the tourists were giving the other figure more money. Spectators, mainly tourists visiting the Christmas displays in the town square, called the police as the conflict escalated.
A viral video captured the aftermath of the fight as police handcuffed the Grinch, whose heart was apparently still two sizes too small.
Saint Nick was lying on the ground a little further away and receiving treatment from a paramedic before also being handcuffed.
“They were consumed by the character,” one user commented on TikTok.

It is unclear whether either man has been charged with a criminal offense.
