Selina, the fast-growing lifestyle and experience-rich hospitality brand targeted at millennial and Gen Z travelers, has opened Selina Union Market in Washington, DC’s thriving Union Market neighborhood. The hotel – the seventh for Selina in the US – is expanding Selina’s global portfolio to over 155 open and secured properties. Designed for digital nomads and modern travelers, Selina offers its guests alternative ways to live, play and work in their unique destinations around the world. Selina Union Market is the brand’s distinctive American property, offering all the unique elements and offerings that make Selina one of today’s most dynamic and far-sighted hospitality brands.
Selina Union Markets decor is a collaborative space where different communities can come together. The decor is modern industrial and uses the history of the room as a former seed factory and antique shop to inspire decor elements. Equipped with a ground color scheme and furnished with upcycled furniture, the hotel is outdoor, artistic and epicurean. In collaboration with modern artists, Selina commissioned a colorful, four-story custom mural by Stencil Network and Sergio Stuff, in addition to original screened artwork by Washington artists, Veronica Barker-Barzel and Victory Dance Creative, featuring whimsical, creative exhibits throughout the property .
Selina Union Market houses 106 rooms with mixed accommodation, including suites, standard rooms, micro-rooms and shared-style accommodation. Each room allows guests to personalize their stay based on privacy preferences, comfort and budget – a unique accommodation experience that the average hotel does not offer. The property also includes multi-storey coworking rooms and private meeting rooms, a full-day restaurant, four artist studios for rent, a cinema room, a shared kitchen, an on-site wellness studio, a basement downstairs for dancing and an expansive rooftop terrace with stunning views the city and wonderful cocktails.
The hotel works with a number of local partners to bring exciting experiences to both guests and Washingtonians. These partnerships include Skincando, an organic skin care line developed in Washington; Pure Drop IV, an on-demand concierge mobile IV therapy brand; DJ Farrah Flosscett, who will be performing full-time at the hotel; SoFar Sounds, who will be performing with surprising live concerts all summer; and artist Vero Barker, who will showcase screen demonstrations and workshops. Other programs include pop-up food and beverage stores, wellness classes, movie nights, comedy shows, professional lectures, access to tours of local distilleries and museums, dance classes and rooftop parties.
As a brand focused on supporting communities, Selina Union Market is an attractive new hangout spot for DMV area residents and visitors. Initial room rates vary depending on seasonality, starting at $ 200 per night for a standard room, $ 500 per night for a private loft. Selina also offers Community Accommodations for $ 50 per night for a bed in one of the common rooms.
