Senior Dog Abandoned At 13 Finally Finds Forever Home One Year Later

A dog named Quinn went viral on social media after being abandoned at the age of 13, and thanks to her fame, she has now found a forever home and a furry best friend too.

In a post shared to Facebook in July by the Pennsylvania SPCA, Quinn can be seen sitting in her kennel, then slowly walking toward volunteers as they move closer to film the clip.

“Quinn is 14 years old. She’s been waiting over a year for a home. When will anyone notice her?” says the placeholder text shown in the clip.

A dog abandoned outside a shelter at the age of 13 was desperately looking for a new home. Now she has found her forever family.

SPCA of Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania SPCA said Newsweek that Quinn arrived at their shelter in June 2023 after being abandoned in front of their apartment building.

“Her nails were overgrown, she was covered in fleas, riddled with masses, and had a hematoma on her left ear that required corrective surgery. She remained the happiest dog in the world, but she still spent over a year looking for a home.”

Since the video went viral, Quinn is no longer looking for a home. In fact, shortly after the video was posted, the pit bull found his forever family and more!

“They have another senior pittie and fell in love with her right away. She is now living the best life and even has her own Instagram account,” the Pennsylvania SPCA added.

*Update: ADOPTED!*Quinn is the oldest dog in our shelter. Now 14 years old, she has been waiting over a year for a home. No older dog should…

Each year, 6.3 million pets enter shelters in the United States, an average of 17,260 per day, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The number of dogs and cats in animal shelters reached 46,807 in January 2023, an increase of 1,744 from January 2022, according to the 24Pet “Shelter Watch” report.

Each year, approximately 920,000 abandoned animals are euthanized. Shelters work to reduce euthanasia rates by promoting adoption campaigns, spay/neuter programs and behavioral rehabilitation.

According to Rescue Dog Home, pit bulls end up in shelters more than any other breed, and they are also the ones euthanized in the highest numbers. According to the website, one in 600 pit bulls in shelters will find a forever home. About 33% of dogs arriving at shelters are pit bulls.

The video quickly went viral on social media, attracting viewers all over the Facebook page. It has so far been viewed more than 226,000 times and received 11,000 likes on the platform.
