The wave of injuries hasn’t been kind to many NFL teams this season, and unfortunately for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, it’s hit two of their key offensive members.

Two members of the Buccaneers’ offense, receiver Rakim Jarrett and running back Chase Edmonds, are likely to be on injured reserve for the season.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport was among the first to report the news via social media.
Bucs head coach Todd Bowlestiol announced Saturday that two of his offensive players will start the season on injured reserve. Under current NFL rules, teams can place two players on injured reserve on the day of final roster cuts and then reinstate them during the regular season.
Before this new rule came into effect, any player placed on the injured list up until the day of the final roster cut was ruled out for the season. This brings a new element to the game and allows teams to do so without being unnecessarily penalized.
For that reason, the Buccaneers will likely place Jarrett and Edmonds on injured reserve Tuesday during final roster cuts and be activated at some point during the 2024 season. Both offensive pieces will look to showcase their talent this season.
Jarrett signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in May 2024. After the 2023 preseason, the Buccaneers announced he was part of the initial 53-man roster, but he was placed on injured reserve in late November 2023. He appeared in 10 games for the Bucs and recorded four receptions on nine targets, 60 receiving yards and zero touchdowns.
The 23-year-old was a standout at Maryland, where he played for three seasons from 2020-22. Jarrett recorded 119 receptions for 1,552 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 28 games.
Edmonds hasn’t practiced since the opening days of training camp. He’s dealing with an undisclosed injury that’s lingering. Edmonds is expected to play in four games, and with his absence looming, it’ll be starters Rachaad White, Bucky Irving and Sean Tucker who will carry the load in the Bucs’ backfield for the first few weeks.
The 28-year-old is playing on the fourth team of his career after spending time with the Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins and now the Bucs. He has 450 rushing attempts, 1,972 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns in 83 career games.
Edmonds is a former fourth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
