Cuts to stamp duty and other taxes will benefit people in London up to twice as much as those in the north.

Analysis by the Onward think tank predicted that the government’s cost of living package, set to be announced tomorrow, would overwhelmingly benefit people and businesses in London and the southeast. There were fears that areas of the country the government had made a commitment to levelling up would be left behind.
