State authorities are investigating the death of a prisoner at Souza-Baranowski Correctional Center (SBCC) in Lancaster.
The inmate, whose name has not been released, is believed to have died Wednesday at the facility, according to the Massachusetts Department of Corrections.
Details surrounding the inmate’s death have not been released.
The death follows an incident on September 18 in which two police officers were stabbed at SBCC and three others were injured.
SBCC is a maximum security prison that houses approximately 700 inmates.
