A suspect was taken into custody Wednesday night following an hours-long standoff in Schaumburg that began after a tree surgeon was injured in a shooting during a noise dispute with a resident, authorities said.
The suspect was taken into custody shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to police.
According to authorities, officers responded to reports of a shooting around 2:50 p.m. in the 800 block of Braintree Drive and found a person who had been shot.
Authorities said the shooting followed an argument between a resident and a contracted tree surgeon. Authorities confirmed the shooting victim was employed by the tree surgeon company.
The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but his condition is unknown.
After the shooting, the suspect barricaded himself inside a residence, prompting residents in the area to be asked to stay indoors while police attempted to resolve the situation.
The suspect exited the house and was taken into custody as police deployed a drone and a robot, according to NBC Chicago reporter Randy Gyllenhaal.
According to police, charges against the suspect are currently pending.
